SUMMARY

Cashier receives cash from customers and employees in payment for goods or services and records the amount received in an accurate manner. S/he is sometimes the customer's last contact with the dealership and therefore must represent the dealership in a friendly, professional manner.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receive cash, check and credit card payments from customers and record the amount received.
  • Operate cash register.
  • Close the customer's repair order (used as customer's bill) using the ADP computer system.
  • Make change, cash checks, and issue receipts to customers.
  • Reconcile the daily cashier balancing report at the end of the day with the payments that were collected verifying that they balance by type of payment.
  • Answer telephones.
  • Contact customers.
  • Maintain service related correspondence and files.
  • Refer customers who have additional questions (e.g., questions about their repair order) to the service advisor or other appropriate individual.
  • Handle customer complaints with integrity and poise and take or refer the customer to the appropriate individual for further communication.
  • Adhere strictly to all company rules, policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to operate office machines: computer, fax, copier, calculator, 10-key, etc.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of confidential personal information of our customers in compliance with the Federal Trade Commission Safeguards Rule, implementing the provisions of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act as they pertain to automobile dealerships.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); at least 1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Will be trained on dealership computer systems, cash register, and other office machines. Ability to work well with customers. Must be able to pass background and drug screening
