POSITION SUMMARY:

The Service Technician Assistant will perform a variety of duties to help the shop run its operation smoothly and efficiently. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform work as assigned and outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
  • Road-test vehicles when required or refer to the test-technician, keeping in mind customers' vehicles should not be used for personal errands.
  • Document work performed and ensure proper paperwork is completed and filed properly
  • Perform minor lube service such as checking tire pressure, filling up air and installing license plate
  • Keep shop tools clean and store them in an organized manner
  • Assist Technicians in getting special tools
  • Assist Technicians with turning in warranty parts
  • Assist Technicians with retrieving parts
  • Wash and clean vehicles as needed to ensure they are ready for delivery and/or loan out
  • Tow vehicles to and from shop as needed and directed by lead personnel in the absence of Shop Foreman/Service Manager
  • Lock up all service vehicles on lot and park them in an organized manner
  • Clean shop and/or office to keep the workplace neat and clean for everyone’s safety and comfort
  • Greet customers in a professional manner and check if customers have been helped
  • Direct customers to the appropriate personnel in a courteous manner
  • Run errands to pick up and/or deliver items as requested
  • File documents in a secured area
  • Check to makes sure supplies/parts that are normally being used are in stock; notify the appropriate personnel if low in quantity or out of stock
  • Take directions from lead personnel in the absence of Shop Foreman/Service Manager for work related duties
  • Assist department managers and supervisors as requested
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or
  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrate organizational skill to complete work in a timely manner and keep work in an organized manner
  • Demonstrate ability to interact with co-workers, vendors, customers and alike in a professional manner
  • Demonstrate ability to take direction from lead personnel in the absence of direct supervisor
  • Demonstrate ability to use personal computer, telephone, copier/printer/scanner, company vehicles, light hand tools and/or power tools.

  • Demonstrate understanding and application of principles, rules and regulation of the subject matter
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Demonstrate knowledge of operating company vehicles and tools

  • Demonstrate ability to communicate customers' interests, needs, and request to others.
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
