SUMMARY

 

The Business Development Representative (BDR) acts as the essential communications link between the client and the dealership, remains in contact with the client during all stages of the sales solicitation process, and is the catalyst for soliciting prospective clients to enter or remain in their assigned dealership’s sales portal.  The BDR is responsible for increasing the amount of vehicle unit sales in an assigned dealership by engaging in a broad range of activities targeting actual or prospective clients, such as (but not limited to) presenting information to elicit specific interest in the dealership’s variety of products and services, either before or after visiting the dealership previously; and committing the prospective client to specific future appointments with a Sales Manager, thereby achieving targeted goals for attendance at shows promoting the dealership’s products and services; and other activities designed to increase client traffic in the dealership, client participation in shows at the dealership, and  unit sales in the dealership.  

 

The BDR must possess a vehicle sales license, and be a friendly, articulate, enthusiastic, and motivated team player.  Customer calls will focus on a variety of subjects such as (but not limited to) Lease Retention, Internet, Unsold Showroom Traffic, and follow up calls in addition to receiving and handling inbound sales calls which produce solid and specific appointments with a Sales Manager for the dealership’s sales team.  The BDR should be an excellent closer in committing prospective clients to essential steps in the dealership’s sales portal at specific dates and times.  The BDR therefore must possess outstanding communication skills, a positive attitude, and an excellent work ethic.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Regular and Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Ensuring that all communication with clients effectively induces the clients to enter or remain in the dealership sales portal, including demonstrating competence in all necessary tasks to achieve this objective, such as (but not limited to) answering calls promptly and professionally and keeping prior commitments and appointments with clients.
  • Demonstrating effective communication skills with clients, including but not limited to following the BDC promotional scripts and guidelines on all inbound and outbound calls
  • Using the various WordTracks at the appropriate stages of all sales calls
  • Demonstrate mastery of all training materials provided by Momentum, including scripts and WordTracks. 
  • Acquiring a complete knowledge of product information related to the makes and models of the dealership
  • Developing proficiency with all features of the BDC CRM software
  • Ensuring that all information entered into BDC software is consistent and accurate
  • Maintaining a current knowledge of coupons, direct mail pieces, all sales advertising and inventory
  • Maintaining a current knowledge of schedules of sales staff and management in the dealership sales portal
  • Developing a thorough understanding of and demonstrating adherence to the BDC and Dealer policies and procedures
  • Consistently maintaining daily, weekly, and monthly goals which correspond to the objectives of the dealer and your individual performance
  • Ensuring that all outbound calls such as (not limited to) No Show, Confirmations, Show appointment follow up and Task list calls are made in a timely and effective manner
  • Consistently meeting the guidelines set for number of set appointments, shows, and outbound calls to be made daily
  • Ensuring that the appointments are set consistent with policy/evenly distributed and set for the appropriate personnel
  • Maintaining the essential communication link between the client and dealer
  • Ensuring that all communication between you and the client and you and the sales staff and management is timely and accurate, keeping in mind the goal of successfully processing the client through the dealership sales portal resulting in a purchased vehicle.
  • Demonstrating the ability to interact effectively with dealership personnel at all levels

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES

 

  • Maintain a high degree of courtesy
  • Maintaining a professional code of conduct at all times
  • Maintain a professional personal appearance and/or adhere to uniform requirement if applicable
  • Adhere strictly to all Company rules, policies and procedures.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of confidential personal information of our clients in compliance with the Federal Trade Commission Safeguards Rule, implementing the provisions of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act as they pertain to automobile dealerships
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

TRAVEL

Business Development Representative’s assigned to local stores - will require weekly/monthly travel once a week during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Will be trained on computer systems.  Ability to work well with customers.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.  Ability to communicate customers' interests, needs, and request to management and sales personnel.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Will perform most of shift at a desk in an office setting.  Professional personal appearance.
